An introduction to Computer Vision

Computer vision enables machines to interact with and understand our world, both physical and virtual. Deep learning has revolutionized the way that we approach computer vision, and research often draws inspiration from the field of neurobiology.

In this talk we will examine a few of the fundamental challenge areas such as object/feature detection, segmentation, and 3D scene reconstruction, and look at some of the algorithms and approaches used. We will also discuss some real-world applications and discover how computer vision is used in medical imaging, security and surveillance, and autonomous driving.

Objective of the talk

Giving a broad overview of some of the challenges and opportunities in the field of computer vision.

Required audience experience

No prior knowledge is assumed, although an interest in vision and/or artificial intelligence would be useful.
